Liam Gallagher’s new band ”Beady Eye” releases their forthcoming debutalbum in Scandinavia & Finland with Cosmos Music Group.
Different Gear, Still Speeding
Label: Beady Eye Records/Cosmos Music Group
Release date: 2011-02-28
Fredrik Ekander, CEO of Cosmos Music Group: “We’re thrilled that the band and management wants to continue the cooperation we started off with Oasis in 2008. ”Different Gear, Still Speeding” is an exceptional album and we have high hopes for it here in the Nordics”.
Beady Eye consists of Liam Gallagher, Andy Bell (guitar), Gem Archer (guitar) and drummer Chris Sharrock – all four being part of Oasis’ last formation. Steve Lillywhite (U2, Morrissey, La’s m.fl) produced the album in RAK Studios, London during the summer 2010.
It’s raw rock’n’roll one minute, and classic pop the next from the raucous Jerry Lee Lewis and Stones inspired “Bring The Light” to the Merseybeat wonder of “For Anyone”, to the stomping T-Rex glam of “The Roller” to the pounding “Millionaire and Four Letter Word”. It sounds like a debut record by a band just starting out with a huge appetite for music, and despite individually all having made records for two decades or more as Chris Sharrock says, “that’s exactly what it is”.
In November 2010 ”Bring The Light” was released as a free track, resulting in a very impressive download count – 110 000 copies(!). An official video was released as well and has over 750 000 views on YouTube.
Single #2 - ”The Roller” – has in just a week generated over 300 000 views on YouTube, and the track will be served to Nordic radio immediately.
“Music, it’s all about the music, we could all have sat at home after Oasis split but what would have been the point of that. We had a couple of weeks off and then we were back in the studio demo-ing. We’re musicians, it’s what we do, it’s how we define ourselves.” (Andy Bell)
